Mae Haad is Koh Tao’s pier town on the west coast, with banks, pharmacies and other island services. Koh Tao Heritage sits between the pier and Sairee Beach, with Mae Haad Beach and Sairee Beach each 150 m away. The nearby shoreline brings together the island’s ferry arrivals, beach access and everyday shops and restaurants. The Mae Haad and Sairee waterfronts connect by a flat brick path, making it possible to walk between the two villages rather than arrange transport for every short trip.

Koh Tao has no airport, so arrival is by boat at Mae Haad Pier. Ferries connect the island with Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Chumphon and Surat Thani. Lomprayah Koh Tao Pier is 650 m from the resort; you can walk from the landing area or take a pick-up truck taxi for the final stretch. Free private parking is available on site if you are travelling around the island by road. Mae Haad and Sairee are linked by a roughly 15-minute walk along the shore, while the island’s roads lead to bays on the east and south coasts.

For a wider view of the coast, the viewpoint on Sairee beach and Koh Nang Yuan is 1.3 km away, and Jansom bay is 1.5 km away. Nangyuan Island is 3.8 km away and reached by boat; its sandbars join three small islets. Diving and snorkelling are among the island’s main activities, with dive sites around Koh Tao and whale sharks seen most often in March–May and September–October. Mae Haad is on the calmer west coast from November to March, although rough seas can disrupt ferry crossings, particularly from November to January.
